Fun and Easy Springtime Activities to Try with Kids
If you’re unsure where to start, here are some simple, engaging, and budget-friendly springtime activities perfect for kids of all ages.
Mini Garden
Introduce your little ones to the magic of gardening! Give them their own pots, soil, and seeds to create a small garden. Easy plants to grow with kids include sunflowers, radishes, and marigolds.
DIY Bird Feeders
Help your kids make DIY bird feeders to attract more feathered friends to your backyard. Use pinecones, peanut butter, and birdseed, or opt for recyclable materials like plastic bottles to make eco-friendly feeders.
Sidewalk Art
Hand your kids buckets of chalk and encourage them to turn your driveway or sidewalk into a masterpiece. From drawing spring flowers to practicing writing their names, this is a simple yet highly creative way to spend an afternoon.
Puddle Jumping Adventure
Don’t let those spring showers keep you indoors. Grab some waterproof boots and raincoats, and take the kids outside to jump, splash, and giggle in puddles! Remember to bring towels for fun clean-up when you’re done.
Build Your Own Kite
Kite flying is a classic springtime activity, and making your own kite adds an extra dimension of fun. Use thin wooden dowels, string, and paper to design personalized kites. Once the wind picks up, head to a park for launch time.
Spring-Inspired Crafts
Use items like flowers, leaves, and twigs to inspire creative crafts. For example:
- Flower Pressing
- Paper mâché garden décor
- Creating caterpillars from pom-poms and pipe cleaners
Encouraging hands-on crafting allows children to explore colors, shapes, and textures while nurturing creativity.
